Brief History of the Church

St. John’s began as a parish church in 1882, when the congregation opened the doors on the first church building at the 4th Street and Silver Avenue location it has occupied ever since. We invite you to join us in the journey of faith that brought St. John’s into being over 130 years ago and that continues to take the initiative in making new opportunities for spiritual enrichment and ministry in the Diocese of the Rio Grande and its See City.
