Holy Week Schedule
Start date:April 12, 2017, 7:00 pm
End date:April 16, 2017, 1:00 pm
Wednesday, April 12 7PM: Tenebrae-from light to darkness (this service of dramatic music and worship leads us into the ‘darkness’ of the final days of Lent, and concludes with the extinguishing of all candles so that the congregation leaves in darkness).
Thursday, April 13 7PM: Maundy Thursday Eucharist is a liturgy that recalls us to the institution of the Eucharist at Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples before his betrayal and crucifixion. It includes the procession of the reserved Sacrament from the High Altar, in the main church, to the Chapel of Repose set up in the Chapel of the Beloved Disciple.
Watch with Me Vigil starts immediately after the Maundy Thursday Eucharist and continues until the Good Friday services. Anyone can come and sit in the quiet of the Chapel of Repose for a time of prayer and meditation. (There is security on site throughout the night.)
Good Friday, April 14 Noon: Stations of the Cross
7PM: Eucharist from reserved Sacrament, and Veneration of the Cross
Saturday, April 15 9PM: Holy Saturday Easter Vigil and lighting the Paschal candle. This is a very moving service that begins in darkness until the Paschal candle is lit from a fire kindled for that purpose. Congregants’ candles are then lighted. Lessons that tell the story of Salvation history are read and ultimately the Nave bursts into full light and glory representing the Resurrection.
Sunday, April 16 8, 9, 11AM: Easter Day services celebrate the full joy of the Resurrection.
