Mission
In 2008, thanks to the initiative that Dean Goodman had already made, the Cathedral strengthened its relationship with St. Mary’s in Oljato , Utah on the Navajo Reservation. The Dean personally put in many hours at St. Mary’s last year. As well, there were two mission trips—back to back last summer—to Oljato. The first week was a work camp. Some of the Cathedral adults and kids plus Jane Gober and the Goodman family helped to do basic repair work (literally mending fences) for the folks on the Reservation. The second week was a Vacation Bible School for the kids on the Reservation and our kids. Adults took part too, again including Jane Gober and the Goodman family. One of the greatest blessings of the VBS was the opportunity to build and grow our relationship with people of all ages on the Reservation.

Members of St. John's returned to Oljito in 2009. During the work week, volunteers completed work on a house and other upkeep work around St. Mary's. A second crew presented VBS to the children of the area.
As with all of God’s work, the seeds have been planted. Some are growing firmly, others need some extra care. But all must be tended conscientiously and consistently. In 2009, Ithe Cathedral will continue to honor its responsibility to be a good steward and shepherd in the community and the world.
