The Rev. Canon B. McK. Williams The Rev. Canon B. McK. Williams – Honorary Canon (ret.)

The Reverend Doctor Bruce McK. Williams was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and attended the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Worship and Sacred Music and became an Associate of the American Guild of Organists. He is also a graduate of the General Theological Seminary in New York City. His Ph.D. (The Pastoral Care of Drug Abusers) is from Pacific Western University, California. Canon Williams is married to the former Charlotte Ellen Lee, of Baltimore; they had two children.

Canon Williams served at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, New York City as deputy to Canon West and more than twenty years as a chaplain in the U.S. Army at posts including West Point, Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. Upon retirement from the Army he became Rector of St. Phillip’s Church, Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. It was from there that he was called to be Assistant to the Dean of the Cathedral at Albuquerque and Diocesan Advisor to the Bishop. He served for a time as Interim Director of Music at the Cathedral, although his primary assignment was as Canon Pastor. Now retired, he assists in celebrating and preaching as needed at the Cathedral and at the Church of St. Thomas of Canterbury.

He has also served as an advisor on church renovation, decoration and refurbishment. One of his particular interests has been the restoration, repair, and rebuilding of church organs; he has been a consultant in Pittsfield, Baltimore, Oklahoma, Washington, New York City, and Albuquerque.
