The Very Rev. Canon Michael Perko – Dean, School of Ministry and Canon Counsel to the Ecclesiastical Authority
The Very Reverend Doctor Michael Perko is a former Roman Catholic (Jesuit) priest, who serves as Dean of the School for Ministry and Canon to the Ecclesiastical Authority of the Diocese of the Rio Grande. He is an emeritus professor at Loyola University, Chicago, where he was Director of the Center for the Advanced Study of Christianity and Culture, and has held faculty fellowships at the University of Chicago, University of London, Ecumenical Center for Theological Research (Israel) and Bar-Ilan University (Israel). Along with his academic vocation, he has served as a spiritual and retreat director for over 30 years. At St. John's Cathedral, where he offices, Fr. Perko's ministries include preaching and presiding at services, adult formation, and spiritual direction.
Fr. Perko has lived in New Mexico for the last four years in the East Mountains of Albquerque with his wife, Lisa, a retired financial anyalyst and attorney. Their family consists of four Golden Retrievers, an English Springer Spaniel, and a 110 lb. Newfoundland named Grace Louise.
