“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” – Maya Angelou

Your vestry has been working closely with Dean Kristi through the Summer to devise a safe and creative Phase 2 reopening plan for the Cathedral. During phone calls and in vestry meetings, we have had many spirited discussions about ways we can connect, while still remaining safe. There have been disagreements and a variety of emotions, and through it all, we’ve all searched to find ways to maintain and build connections within our Cathedral community.

At the July vestry meeting, multiple mini-committees were formed to come up with proposals for ways we can gather in different, safe ways during this pandemic. These proposals were voted on and passed at our vestry meeting tonight. Unfortunately, I can’t share all these great plans with you just yet, as they will be collected together and sent for review by our Bishop. Once we get feedback and approval from the Bishop, we will be announcing some exciting new ideas to connect more closely to each other and to the sacred spaces in our church.

Some of these ideas will likely find you worshipping, praying or congregating in ways you’ve never considered. It is my hope that you approach these opportunities with an open mind and heart. I hope that you will be able to find the Holy Spirit, the peace, the renewal – all the things we are used to finding in our church building home—and find it in new places and in new ways. Wherever you find yourself, when you are with your church family—virtually or physically—I hope you will feel at home and blessed.

Faithfully,
Zac Van Note, Senior Warden
