OUR SACRAMENTS

What is a Sacrament?

The sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by which we receive that grace. These are typical rites of the Church. We know that God also works in countless ways outside of our proscribed sacraments. Please contact a member of the clergy for more information on any of these rites.

Baptism

Holy Baptism is the sacrament where we publicly affirm that we are adopted by God as God’s children and makes us members of Christ’s Body, the Church. The Cathedral does not charge a fee for baptism. If you would like to have yourself or members of your family baptized, please contact one of our clergy.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop. The Cathedral offers confirmation classes for youth and adults.

Eucharist

Holy Eucharist is the sacrament commanded by Christ for the continual remembrance of his life, death, resurrection, until his coming again. The Cathedral offers at home or in the hospital  communion to those unable to physically come to church.

Annointing of the Sick

Holy Unction is the rite of anointing the sick with oil, or the laying on of hands, by which God’s grace is given for the healing of spirit, mind and body.

Marriage

Holy Matrimony is Christian marriage in which two persons enter into a life-long union, make their vows before God and the Church, and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows. Weddings at the Cathedral are beautiful!

Funerals and Memorials

The Clergy of the Cathedral are here for you when you suffer a loss. Please contact Dean Kristi or Canon Spencer for Last Rites, Memorial or Funeral services, and for information regarding our Columbarium. We are also available if you would like someone to listen.

We offer a monthly Requiem service on the Second Thursday of the month as a way of remembering those who died on those yearly anniversaries.

Each year, leading up to All Saints' Day, you are welcome to bring in photos or write the names of those you have lost for our Altar of Remembrance.
