Our Bible was a gift from Charles and Diane Beck. Our copy is the Saint John's Bible Heritage Edition #87.

The gorgeous, original Saint John's Bible is the first completely handwritten and illuminated Bible to be commissioned by a Benedictine abbey since the invention of the printing press. This was a project headed up by Donald Jackson. It was an international effort, taking place in both Wales and Minnesota. It cost $8 million and over 13 years to complete.

The Heritage Edition is the full-size fine art reproduction of the original, and is limited to 299 signed and numbered 7 volume sets.

This Bible was given to the Cathedral in hopes that many people would be able to soak in the beautiful illustrations and study the Word of God.

If you would like to take advantage of this remarkable resource, please contact the Cathedral. Martha Ernest is our curator of the Bible Room.
