Wedding Planning

New Paragraph

Requirements

At the Cathedral, we are open to all people desiring to be married as proscribed by the State of New Mexico, including people who are divorced, marrying someone of the same gender, or those who have differing religious convictions. All divorced persons will need to show proof of divorce and our Bishop will issue a judgement regarding the marriage. If you have been married more than 2 times, additional counseling may be required, depending on the circumstances.

The Canons of our church require that the couple getting married completes at least 4 hours of premarital counseling with the officiating clergy or someone designated by the officiating clergy. One of the people getting married must be baptized within a Christian denomination. The marriage service will be presided by a member of the Cathedral, but accommodations may be made for clergy outside of the Cathedral to participate. The service will follow the marriage service as authorized by the General Convention of the Episcopal Church.

We know the music at your wedding is very important. Within our tradition, we allow most classical music and hymns. Our Director of Music, Canon Dr. Maxine Thevenot will assist in the selection of all music.
